John K has been running a mini animation class on his blog lately, and one of the tasks was to render a 3 dimensional object (in this case a toy)... i suck at perspective and 3 dimensions and pretty much all technical aspects of drawing so i took on the challenge to learn a bit.

Thu, Jul. 5th, 2007, 06:02 am unbelievable:
Mrs. xxxxx (maiden name xxxxx) had checked into the hotel 7 days prior to tonight’s incident after she had fled her legal custodian en route to Paris to seek psychiatric treatment. She stayed at the hotel for 2 days before she disappeared without a trace. Her family had contacted us during her stay to inform us she was troubled and would potentially need medical help due to her mental state. Tonight, July 5th at approximately 12:30am, Mr. xxxxx, Mrs xxxxx’s husband checked in to the hotel in an attempt to track down his wife who had gone missing. He went upstairs to his room, and came back down to the lobby to sit and speak with his colleague he was traveling with. At approximately 1:00am a gentleman who did not identify himself came to the desk claiming he had met a woman outside on the street who was asking him to come inside and retrieve her belongings that she had left behind. He didn’t know her full name, just that her name was xxxxx and she had been here a few days prior. While we were attempting to figure out what he needed, Mr. xxxxx came to the desk to confront me about why we had let his wife Mrs. xxxxx check in under an assumed name. At some point during the conversation with both gentlemen it became apparent they were here for the same woman. She at this point entered the lobby from the elevator. Mrs. xxxxx/xxxxx attempted to flee upon the site of her husband, but was cornered in the lobby by Mr. xxxxx and his associate. They held her down on the couch and she began screaming for help. She was asking for me to call the police for help, and her husband and associate were also asking me to call the police. I called Precinct 1, but there was no answer, so I called 911The associate (who never gave his name in the chaos) was trying to explain the situation and while he was, I stepped into the lobby and spoke to Mrs. xxxxx and asked that she please calm down and remain seated, and if she did so I would have her husband step away from her and let her go. She agrees and I separated the two and calmed the situation down. At this point the police arrived and I informed them of the previous history of Mrs. xxxxx/xxxxx. They spoke at length with the husband and his associate (who was translating), and all attempts at communication with Mrs. xxxxx/xxxxx were not met with any success. After examining all the documentation provided by Mr. xxxxx the NYPD called a translator in an attempt to get more information out of Mr. xxxxx, but nothing more was discovered. Shortly after this the EMT’s showed up at the property. Mrs xxxxx/xxxxx was curled up in the fetal position on one of the lobby couches unresponsive to communication and crying, and the EMT’s upon assessment of the situation decided the best course of action would be to take her to the nearest Psych Ward. She was forcibly moved to a chair and strapped down and taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital where she will be held and observed until she is cleared to leave. This morning at approximately 5:30am I spoke with Dr. xxxxx who was charged with the care of Mrs. xxxxx/xxxxx. I explained as much of the story as I could remember, and helped her fill in any gaps she had in the story she had been given by all parties involved. Dr. Newman gave me contact information for St. Vincent’s were Mr. xxxxx can inquire about the status of his wife. Dr. xxxxx will now be off, but said anyone on duty can help.

"Do you know what a Humanist is? I am honorary president of the American Humanist Association, having succeeded the late, great science fiction writer Isaac Asimov in that functionless capacity. We Humanists try to behave well without any expectation of rewards or punishments in an afterlife. We serve as best we can the only abstraction with which we have any real familiarity, which is our community. We had a memorial services for Isaac a few years back, and at one point I said, "Isaac is up in Heaven now." It was the funniest thing I could have said to a group of Humanists. I rolled them in the aisles. It was several minutes before order could be restored. And if I should ever die, God forbid, I hope you will say, "Kurt is up in Heaven now." That's my favorite joke.
